Born in Montreal, Mike Bleackley (aka Dj Mike Madness) first discovered House Music in the mid- 80′s, artists like Frankie Knuckles, Larry Levan, Louie Vega, and Fast Eddie influenced him at a young age. Immediately falling for the music and creating the drive to want to be the one playing it for the people. Acquiring a mixer and a couple decks he began teaching himself the art of turntabling.

After a several years in Toronto Mike had moved to Vancouver in 1992, accepting his first residency at a night called “Romper Room”. This was the premier house night in Vancouver and vaulted House Music within the cities scene, 800-1000 people would come through this club every wednesday. Loft and underground warehouse parties were hot in these days, Mike was fortunate to be part of this scene and great times in Vancouver.

Over the following years Mike Madness had secured residencies in many clubs such as Graceland, Mars, Shaggy Horse, Red Lounge, Romper Room (Madison’s), Twilight Zone, Richards on Richards, The World, Bar None, Sky Bar, Ginger 62, Caprice, Plaza, Shine, Tommy Africa’s (Soul Kitchen), Lotus, Commodore Ballroom, Au Bar and Stone Temple. Also, winning Alert Magazines dj competition at Richards in 1995, as well as another competition at Twilight Zone in Gastown.

More recently playing at Fortune Sound Club on its impressive Funktion 1 audio system and FiveSixty club in the former and famed A&B Sound location on Seymour st. Dj Mike Madness ha been fortunate to have played along side dj’s like Doc Martin, Keoki, Julius Papp, Jay Tripwire, Marques Wyatt, and Dave Pezzner.

Mexico has been a popular spot for Mike, playing during the 2009 BPM festival at La Santanera club in Playa Del Carmen, also at Nikki Beach and Passion in Los Cabos. The well known Pipeline Cafe in Waikiki, Hawaii had recently had dj Mike Madness headline the last event to be held at this venue with crowds exceeding 2500 people.

Dj Mike Madness is a true veteran and pioneer of the House scene, a man whose love for the music is apparent through his continued dedication to research and performance for the crowds he love to share it with.
