Pretty Lights or Pretty Lame... You Be The Judge

"I'm a producer NOT a DJ" I stumbled upon this article and had to lol... the fans are totally rad in this interview but I just couldn't handle the I'm not a DJ I'm a producer angle re-recycled yet again. Listen up kids, even if you write and record all of your own tracks if you get up and play them from a CDJ or auto mix them from Tracktor or Ableton you are still DJing, you simply become a producer who is DJing their own music and since the last time I checked- tweaking the filter and hitting repeat does not qualify as a live artist performance.  On a side note, lame ass pre-scripted, vanilla ice boy dancing does not distract anyone who knows anything about music from this fact. If you want to call yourself a performance artist, get a synth, get a drum machine and get whatever other interface you can actually play and do something with them. I'm not saying that's this guys angle but it just got me to thinking: why do all the new guys feel it's ok to insult the 1000s of DJs and clubbers who came before them and created the scene, the music and vibe... ya know?
