The Music Industry Loses a Legend! Don Cornelius Dies at Age 75

The music community is in morning as Don Cornelius, the producer and television host famous for bringing the “Soul Train,” to life was dead in Los Angeles It was reported he was found in his home early Wednesday morning in what appears to be a suicide, a self inflicted shot to the head according to the Los Angeles Police Department and the county coroner’s office said. He was 75.

Don Cornelius started out as a dj, and ended up starting and staring in on of the longest-running syndicated shows in history, "Soul Train" The show was created in 1970 on WCIU-TV, its success catapulted it quickly to being a nationally broadcasted show by 1971. This was just the beginning of an epic show that lasted for 35 years!

Don left the show in 1993 to investigate other ventures, The show continued on until 2006!  During its run the show helped showcase artist like James Brown, Aretha Franklin and even the man himself Michael Jackson! 

Quincy Jones was quoted as saying "Don was a visionary pioneer and a giant in our business. Before MTV, there was "Soul Train". That will be the great legacy of Don Cornelius. His contributions to television, music and our culture as a while will never be matched. My Heart goes out to Don's family and loved ones.
